Bouclé, Corduroy or Jute: A Guide to Fabrics & Care

Textured fabrics bring warmth and depth to a home. Here is a quick guide to the fabrics you will find across Casaverve furniture and cushions, and how to care for each one so it stays beautiful for years.

Bouclé

Bouclé is made from looped yarn, which gives it a soft, nubby, cloud-like texture. It has become a favourite for modern and minimalist interiors.

Care: vacuum gently with a soft brush attachment. Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth – do not rub. For stubborn marks, use a mild fabric cleaner and test on a hidden area first.

Corduroy

Corduroy has raised ribs that feel soft and look rich, with a slightly retro charm.

Care: brush or vacuum along the direction of the ribs. Blot spills quickly and avoid harsh scrubbing, which can flatten the pile.

Jute and woven fibres

Natural jute and woven pieces add an earthy, handcrafted feel and pair well with wood and plants.

Care: keep away from moisture and direct water. Vacuum or shake off dust regularly, and spot clean with a barely damp cloth.

Chenille and velvet-like fabrics

These fabrics have a soft pile that feels plush and catches the light beautifully.

Care: vacuum lightly and brush the pile in one direction. Blot spills and avoid placing the furniture in strong direct sunlight to prevent fading.

General tips for all upholstery

  • Rotate and fluff cushions regularly for even wear.
  • Keep furniture away from direct sunlight and heaters.
  • Deal with spills straight away – blot, never rub.
  • Always check the care label on your product before using any cleaner.
